This morning we woke up to the sound of the voice over through the speakers on the Spirit of Tasmania as the ship cut through the sea before docking at Devonport, Tasmania.
We rolled out of bed and organised ourselves before first light to head down to our car which we named Pablo (the Nissan Patrol). As the lights of the vehicle in front turned on, we turned the key to start Pablo up, one by one we cruised off the ship, First stop COFFEE.
Once we re-energised we made tracks to Cradle Mountain with the intentions of doing the challenging hike up to the summit. Unfortunately the weather was horrendous! All we could do was wait and watch the clouds roll in between the mountains for hours on end, hoping that eventually Cradle mountain would appear.
We camped the night at Discovery Parks – Cradle Mountain which was one of the most incredible camp grounds I had stayed at. The beautiful large stone common area felt like a hut made for the snow it had 2 fire places burning away keeping all campers warm and out of the wet weather. After we cooked our dinner we played Uno until we were ready to head back to Pablo and snuggle up in our sleeping bags beneath the starry sky nestled between lush trees for our first nights sleep in Tasmania.
