Leaving the freezing Lake Takepo at 3am we made tracks to our finally destination Kaikoura, but first we made a breaky pitstop and also deciding it was time for a nap before continuing on to Christchurch. Christchurch wasn’t what I had expected, the city was full of towering cranes for the reconstruction from the devastating Earthquakes. After walking around the little city we drove our way to Kaikoura weaving through the hills and sea cliff tunnels until we hit snow capped mountains right by the turquoise ocean, this country just keeps blowing me away by it’s beauty.
Driving around the area was gorgeous, we ended up driving along a windy road to end up at a carpark which was surrounded by big and small seals which were soaking up as much vitamin D as they could get.
What a perfect way to end this trip, 14 absolutely beautiful days in the South Coast of New Zealand.
