After a restless nights sleep due to an icy temperature drop and sleeping on a yoga mat (which I quickly learnt is meant just for yoga) all night. I was relieved to have made it to the morning, crawling out of my some-what cosy sleeping bag and opening the zip to my tent to Wade making us coffee on the portable stove. The memory of the terrible nights sleep went straight to the back of my mind once I wrapped my hands around my hot mug and filled my stomach with a bowl full of porridge.
We slowly packed away our campsite and poorly cleaned ourselves up before heading down to Beauchamp Falls. Dawdling down the path through luscious ferns we’d made it to the base of the falls. Carefully climbing over the slippery rocks and avoiding a slip into the freezing cold water as we looked to to get a glimpse of the falls from every angle possible. Although I had been here before, Beauchamp Falls was just as beautiful at a second glance. One step in front of the other we headed back to the carpark to head off to the well loved California Redwoods.
Winding our way through the redwoods down to the stream of water we couldn’t help but to walk along the fallen trees to the other side. It is easy to see why the Otways are one of my favourite places to explore in Victoria.
